Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha is situated in southeast Leshan, at the concourse of the Dongmin, Qingyi and Dadu rivers.
This was made during the tang dynasty(618–907AD.The construction was began 713 AD , guide by a Chinese monastic named Haitong.When the Giant Buddha was formed, a huge thirteen story wooden structure, plated in gold, was made to protection it from rain ans sunshine. This structure was ruined and despoiled by the Mongols during the wars at the end of the Yuan Dynasty.
